All Score Urbana and Urbana High School Orchestras reunite this Spring to build on the 12 session introductory music composition program we collaborated on in 2019 . With support from College Music Society’s CMS Fund, we will be doing weekly composition workshops that will continue to develop UHS composers’ creativity.
The workshop environment will include compositional insights from teachign artists including violinist Alyssa Tong, composer/collaborative pianist Mike McAndrew, composer/hornist Kayla McComb, baritone Geoffrey Schmelzer, multi-reedist Nathan Balester, and composer Ralph Lewis. Bios are available here. The program will also feature a presentation about interactive electronic music with composer Brittany J. Green.
This program is funded by College Music Society’s Community Engagement Seed Grant Award
For Urbana High School students: Use the form below to fill out information so we can best pair you with the soloist or soloist and piano of your choosing. (This helps us balance supporting you and making sure the teaching artists are all helping you but are not overworked. If 40 people want to write for violin and 1 for clarinet, Alyssa will be very very tired.)
