All Score Urbana and Urbana High School Orchestras reunite this Spring to build on last year’s 12 session introductory music composition program. With support from College Music Society’s CMS Fund, we will be doing three sessions that will continue to develop UHS composers’ creativity. The workshop environment will include compositional insights from local composer Ralph Lewis, teaching artists violinist Alyssa Tong and cellist Terence Lo coaching new works on site, and an interactive conversation with composer Brittany J. Green.
We are in the process of seeking additional funding to include student composers from the UHS band and choir programs by expanding the teaching artists to include composer/collaborative pianist Mike McAndrew, composer/hornist Kayla McComb, baritone Geoffrey Schmelzer, and multi-reedist Nathan Balester.
